Enable or disable Video Input in Windows Sandbox

Windows Sandbox framework is optimized for faster boot-up. It also runs faster than normal virtual machines. Once you close it all the data is erased, and you begin with a fresh Windows 10 installation again. We have already seen how to disable Networking in Windows Sandbox in Windows 10. Today, we’ll walk you through the process of enabling or disabling video input in Windows Sandbox.

Enable or disable Video Input in Windows Sandbox

You can choose to enable or disable video input in Windows Sandbox via both methods, Registry Editor and Group Policy Editor. To do it using the Registry Editor:

  1. Open Registry Editor.
  2. Go to the Windows Sandbox key
  3. Create a new 32-bit DWORD value AllowVideoInput.
  4. Set the value to 1 to enable video input for Windows Sandbox.
  5. Delete the value to disable video input.
  6. Restart Windows 10.

Using Registry Editor

Press Win+R in combination to open the ‘Run’ dialog box.

Type ‘Regedit’ in the empty field of the box and press ‘Enter’.

When the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following path address –

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsSandbox.

If you do not find a key with such a name then, create one.

Enable or disable Video Input in Windows Sandbox

Now, create a new 32-bit DWORD value and name it as ‘AllowVideoInput’.

Now, to enable video input for Windows Sandbox set the value for ‘AllowVideoInput’ to 1.

To disable the same, simply delete the value.

Using Group Policy Editor

Open the Group Policy Editor and navigate to the following path –

Computer ConfigurationAdministrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsWindows Sandbox

Now, search the policy setting ‘Allow video input in Windows Sandbox’.

When seen, check the ‘Enabled’ option to enable Video Input in Windows Sandbox.

To disable the same, check the ‘Disabled’ option.
